SERAPIS BEY
There is a rich etymological evolution of Serapis, beginning with the Hebrew definition of Seraph, which means "to blaze up or forward." From this word we get the spiritual hierarchy of angels called Seraphim. The Egyptians believed the soul searched for truth entangled in a labyrinth of worldly ignorance. It was Serapis who tested those seeking union with the Immortals.
I conceived Serapis Bey while actively contemplating the mysteries of existence and seeking the essence of the sacred. My mind sought to communicate a visual reminder if the prophetic power we all possess. I was looking for a way to express that which is within us all and available to us when we choose to embark and take responsibility for our own personal inner journey. Now fully manifest, Serapis Bey is a daily reminder of the importance of attaining depth of character and tranquility of spirit.
